Week 13
What we learned this week
This week in our science lab we learned from a new guest teacher, she taught us about the idea of how things change based on what they are put in. We did M and Ms and we tested what happens when they are submerged in different types of water. One group had salt water, one had normal water (control), and one had sugar water, and hot water (my group). We placed the M&Ms on a paper plate and we put the water assigned to the group in the plate and then the same formation and colors of M&Ms
For hot water, we noticed that the color came off of the M&Ms extremely quick, there was not even a moment of pure water.
Relate what I knew to what I learned
I already knew that water molecules in hot water move a lot faster and that this would cause the M&M to heat up and be able to disintegrate faster.
I understood the sugar water wouldn't melt quickly but I was surprised about the salt water, I thought their reactions would've been the same.
This lab is super engaging and very fun, it is a great way to have students learn about different changes in experiments and how the different waters affect the M&Ms
