Week 6
What we learned this week
This week we did so many different activities. We checked on our fast plants, played a turtle game, and even identified our understanding of the 3d Model. Something that really stuck out to me this week was during our turtle activity. I know that turtles are very endangered due to all the trash that ends up in the ocean, but I had no idea how much cars affect turtles. During our turtle activity with the fortune teller, I died both times due to cars rolling over me on the beach. This is something I really never even thought about. We made a T-chart which helped us find the deeper purpose of the fortune-teller activity. We then created a model of our understanding of our turtle activity and placed it into a 3d model to show our understanding.
What I knew
I knew that turtles have a really hard time surviving but I didn't realize that trash isn't the main reason. I knew that they were born with so many eggs in their litter but I didn't realize how few actually survive and hatch. I thought it was super cool that they use one tooth to hatch their egg, and I learned that it takes them 3 days to fully hatch!
Clear and confusing
It is extremely clear how many environmental factors turtle faces everdya, and it is clear that it is not only humans that cause them to have such a hard time surviving. It is also very clear that our fast plants are blooming and growing so quickly! Something confusing/ I want to get better at is being able to use the 3d model to the best of my ability for my future classroom, I'm not a pro at it yet so I still get a little confused.
Future Use
These activities were all so simple but they also taught the students so much. I love the fortune tellers and you could even bring in an engineering part of the activity and have them build one on their own! I think these activities are all super accessible and quick and allow the students to be engaged and have fun learning!
Questions
I do not have any!
