Week 5

Learned this Week This week we dove deep into ecosystems and food chains. We were able to learn about  different  ecosystems and how they function, we worked with our group to create an ecosystem and we got to pick what animals from the ecosystem would  appear  in our food chain example. We also  learned  about ants and that they work together to build things and heavily rely on teamwork, we also learned they release chemicals to communicate with each other. Another thing we learned about was how to  determine  if lesson  plans  are effective and if they are meeting all of the standards. We also saw our butterflies hatch and become  beautiful butterflies, as well as our seeds growth and we could evens see roots coming out of the bottom of our pot! Already Knew The prior knowledge we came in with of knowing the characteristics of living things was very helpful. Another thing that we already knew was the life...

Learn this Week  This week we learned so many different things about our butterflies. We were able to see them in their pupa stage and relate it back to the life cycle we had been learning about. We then went and looked at our seeds we had planted and we were able to identify that they have been getting enough water, oxygen, h20 and sunlight/warmth and they have been growing beautifully.  Already Knew We were able to use prior knowledge of a butterflies life cycle when we saw that they caterpillar had emerged into its pupa stage of life. Another thing we already knew was that our seeds were going to grow if they got the characteristics we needed to have to have them grow. We know that it would grow if it had enough water, oxygen and sunlight.  Clear and Confusing I found it clear that the butterfly was growing and moving through the lifecycle based on the progression in moving from a caterpillar to a pupa. What I foun...

Week 3 Lab

What We Know  Based on week 2, we knew coming to class, we were going to see if our beans germinated successfully. Another thing we also knew was the characteristics of living things, and we learned about the life cycle. This allowed us to be able to construct our own life cycle and be able to know the 6 different characteristics of a living thing.  Questions  A question I have is how can the life cycle of the animal go with the food cycle? How are there different colored lady bugs if they all go through the same life cycle, why are they different colors? How does the characteristics of living things play a role in the life thing itself? Clear and Confusing  These experiments are very clear, and there is little confusion around them. The most confusing thing was the need for colors of playdough, this provided a more imaginary way of what the life cycle looks like in color, but it still gave a very good understanding of what the life cycle is and ...
