8 Characteristics of Living Things Learned this Week  This week I learned about the characteristics of living things. I also learned how to dissect a bean, which was really interesting. We were able to find the seed coat, cotyledon, and embryo. We also learned about what it means for an organism to be dormant vs. alive. I also learned about Germinating seeds, and we learned to not overwater the seeds. I also learned that all you need to do this is a warm environment, water, cotton balls, seeds, and a cup! We did this due to Iowa switching from Common Core standards to the NGSS; we learned why they did this and how the two education systems are different.  What Did to Investigate  In our lab, we had to come up with how we wanted our classroom; we had to collabor...
